The Durham Art Gallery welcomes violinist and multidisciplinary artists, Leslie Ting for a series of in-person performances.

​

Artist-performer Leslie Ting brings two experimental, participatory installations that explore our relationships to the violin, a mythologized instrument of western classical concert music.

​

West Gallery: Visitors are invited into an unusual intimate physical exchange with the instrument, to pick up a violin and quietly 'tell it all your problems' while immersed in a soundscape drawn from What Brings You In interview research and sound design.

​

East Gallery: A series of live performances of J.S. Bach’s Chaconne for solo violin, paused halfway through to invite the audience to explore questions of the perceived weight of expectation, tradition and identity.

Thursday, April 10th:  12 - 4pm, performance: 12:30pm

Friday, April 11th:       5 - 8pm, performance: 7:00 pm

Saturday, April 12th:   12 - 4pm, performance: 1:00pm

Sunday, April 13th:     12 - 4pm, performance: 1:00pm*

*Our April Coffee House Salon gathering will engage with the performance followed by discussion and refreshments.
