Here are the Durham Art Gallery’s 2024 Holiday Card artwork Competition selected artwork for our 2025 cards!

Jacob, Grade 1 at MacPhail Memorial Elementary School

A Christmas card of a large Christmas tree and Santa Claus riding a sleigh. In the center of the drawing is a wide green tree with red, purple, pink, blue, and yellow decorations. At the top of the tree is a yellow star. To the right of the drawing is Santa Claus in red sleigh with gold skis attached to the bottom. The background has blue snow flakes and blue snow on the bottom of the artwork. On the card is says "Merry Christmas" in red font.

Jason, Grade 2 at MacPhail Memorial Elementary School

A white snowy scene. There are grey snowflakes across the entire background of the artwork. There are two green evergreen trees on top of a snowy hill. In the right corner of the photo there is a fire that is red and orange flames with brown wood. At the bottom of the card it reads "Happy Holidays".

Fox, Grade 2/3 at MacPhail Memorial Elementary School

A Christmas card with a yellow background and three evergreen trees at the bottom. The trees are decorated in red, blue, green, and purple decorations. At the top of the vertical card is a square of tear drop shaped silver sticker gems. The background of the card is dark green and the bottom reads "Season's Greetings!"

The tree is resting on top of a white snow hill. There are white snowflakes on the blue sky background. The bottom of the card reads "Love, peace, and joy."

Aida, Grade 4 at Edgehill Country School

A holiday card with a blue wintery background. To the right of the card is a house with two windows that are coloured yellow. The house is coloured purple and dark blue. Hanging on the front of the house near the roof is a green wreath with a red bow in the top center of the wreath. The background of the card is light blue with white snowflakes. There is also three dark blue figures with hats who are climbing to the top of the hill to reach the house. In the right coner of the card it reads "Cheers to the New Year".

Owen, Grade 6 at Edgehill Country School

A holiday card created by a child. The background is white. There is a large snowman in the center of the image with a red hat and a small snowman in the right corner also with a red hat. Both snowmen have red and green scarves wrapped around their necks. At the bottom of the card there is text that reads "Warmest Wishes".

Dara, Grade 7 at MacPhail Memorial Elementary School

A holiday card created by a child. The card looks like the screen of a cellphone when music is playing. The spot where the album cover would be is a landscape of a home with a colourful sky. The image has a brown house, green trees all over the property, snow all over the ground, and a white full moon in the left corner. The sky is a mixture of blues, pinks, purples, and greens. Santa Claus is in a sleigh flying through the sky. Where the song title would be on the phone screen it reads "Happy Holidays". There is also a pause button and two skip buttons at the bottom of the card.

Trink, Grade 8 at MacPhail Memorial Elementary School
