Join us at the Durham Art Gallery for our 2025 Creative Skill Sharing Workshop Series.

In this three hour workshop, we will explore the art of mark-making through mindful doodling, cathartic writing, and Gelli plate printing. This is your chance to create freely—without judgment and embrace the beauty of experimentation!  Once we have created layers of doodling, writing and printing on Japanese paper, we will  tear through our work—then machine stitch the fragments back together. This process mirrors transformation, turning fragments of the past into something fresh and new.

Whether you’re a beginner eager to explore or a seasoned stitcher looking for an exciting new technique, this workshop is for you!  No experience needed—just bring yourself! All materials are provided.

INSTRUCTOR/FACILITATOR:

Loretta Faveri is a fibre artist and dancer based in Toronto and Grey County, Ontario who creates large and small scale paper tapestries.

Her work is about forgiveness and letting go of past shame. She tears through "rejected" art pieces, then stitches them back together to symbolize healing and new beginnings. She continues to unearth the past, now celebrating the importance of family and creating legacy.

Learn more about her work at https://artofforgiveness.ca/index.html

Made possible by funding from the Community Foundation of Grey Bruce.
