Loretta Faveri's show, Captured Moments is currently showing at the Durham Art Gallery.

Part of the exhibition is a community engagement project with the artist in the form of a 2 hour workshop.

In this two-hour workshop, we’ll use cathartic writing, mindful doodling, and printmaking techniques to help release whatever might be holding us back from achieving our goals—all without judgement. Then we will ceremoniously tear through our creations and stitch the fragments into a communal textile, interweaving them with those of our fellow participants. This act of tearing and stitching is a symbolic gesture for letting go of our attachment to the past. It helps us build something new from our collective fragments that is rooted in forgiveness and compassion.

Whether you’re a beginner eager to explore or a seasoned stitcher looking for an exciting new technique, this workshop is for you!  No experience needed—just bring yourself! All materials are provided.

Loretta Faveri is a fibre artist and dancer based in Toronto and Grey County, Ontario who creates large and small scale paper tapestries.

Her work is about forgiveness and letting go of past shame. She tears through "rejected" art pieces, then stitches them back together to symbolize healing and new beginnings. She continues to unearth the past, now celebrating the importance of family and creating legacy.

This is a pay-what-you-can event, a suggested $10 donation is recommended.
